Blizzard Officially Announces 'Overwatch Rush,' a New Mobile Game Set in the Overwatch Universe
Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced the development of 'Overwatch Rush,' a brand-new mobile game set in the Overwatch universe. Although the game is still in its early stages, Blizzard chose to share this update to maintain transparent communication with the community throughout the development process.
1. A Dedicated Top-Down Hero Shooter, Not a Port
Overwatch Rush is not a simple port of the existing PC and console versions. It is an entirely new top-down Hero shooter built specifically from the ground up to suit mobile players and the mobile gaming environment.
2. Developed by a Separate, Mobile-Focused Team
The new title is being developed by a dedicated team at Blizzard with deep mobile development experience, completely separate from Team 4. As a result, Team 4 will remain fully focused on delivering fresh experiences and updates for the PC and console versions of Overwatch, which recently launched its Season 1.
3. Upcoming Regional Tests and Community Feedback
Blizzard is currently preparing to test Overwatch Rush in select countries and regions. The development team is eager to see how players react to the early build and will use their feedback to guide the focus of upcoming development phases. Ongoing updates will be provided through the official Discord server.
Brief Commentary
Following the paths of Diablo and Warcraft, the Overwatch IP is taking a significant step into the mobile ecosystem. Adopting a top-down perspective rather than the traditional first-person view seems like a very smart and practical choice for mobile controls.
